NEWS FROM MEMBERS (Considered to be of interest to all)

JAMES FERGUSON (219) - Can anyone help me with details of this James Ferguson, as it is not the late Jim Ferguson we all knew of recent times. This one lives in Auckland, with the last address I had for him being 9a Napier Street, Takapuna in Auckland. His wife's name is recorded as Faye. His mail has been returned to sender, and no one seems to know anything about him. I had a call from him years ago and he told me of the confusion that had occurred over the years with there being two Jim Fergusons.

ROWAN LECK - Rowan has suggested that it would be great to get an email list together of those who had spent time in surf, but never made it to the 21 Club. In particular he mentioned Dave Foster (Oreti) who now lives in Calgary, Canada. Anyone able to assist Rowan with this should contact him be email

JESSICA GIVEN - FIRST LADY PRESIDENT - Congratulations to Jessica on being the first and to date, only, woman to have been appointed to the position of President of the 21 Club for the 2001/2002 Season.

LES FREEMAN - Having retired from NZ Railways Hillside Workshops some years ago, Les and Joan moved from Dunedin to Geraldine where Les took up a position as Caretaker/Manager for an overseas absentee property owner (UK based) who visits the property ony for a short time each year. Of recent year Les and Joan have purchased their own home in Geraldine township, Les has "almost" retired from the farm position, and Joan has taken up Art and is listed among those one should visit when in Geraldine. Les is retained by the farm as an advisor and consultant for the specialist equipment he had developed for the property over the years.

Les Freeman is well remembered at District (Otago), Southern Region, and National Level for his association with competitions, mainly as Carnival Controller and at the NZ Champs, as Chief Marshall. His involvement ended when the Chief Marshall position was abolished at the NZ Championships.

Les still cooks a great BBQ and enjoys his Bourbons.  (See pic. on Photo Gallery Page 3)
